Northwestern University has demonstrated the world's first flexible lithium ion battery. This is an important development as scientists have already created various electrical polymer components that can stretch. These complete packages could be placed internally near the heart or brain. Demonstrated with a commercial LED, they claim the battery lasts for 8 or 9 hours and can be recharged wirelessly.
