Have you ever wanted to drop everything you're doing, quit your day job, and spend your time and skills supporting change in the developing world?
Leaving your day job permanently might not be feasible... but join the Posner Center for International Development at the Posner Poverty Hack 2.0 for a short escape. From July 10-12, 2016 we are hosting our own unique “hackathon” for international development.
We asked our network of international nonprofit organizations to tell us about challenges they face in their work – specifically challenges that they can't solve on their own, that require input from people with fresh perspectives and experience in diverse sectors like business, technology, management and government. We’ve selected three of these challenges to be “hacked” over the course of the 2.5-day event. During the Poverty Hack, individual participants will work together in teams to competitively group problem solve - or "hack" - potential solutions to one of the challenges. The three best solutions (1 for each challenge) will compete to be crowned the winning idea, and the Posner Center will fund the nonprofit organization who presented that challenge to implement the solution.
So what does this mean for you?
We need you. We need your skills, your experience, your energy - whatever you can bring to the table. Whether it's a track record of starting businesses, skills in management, a background in IT and software design or just an interest in international issues, you have something to offer.

Women’s Bakery Challenge
Create a text-based mobile system that will help entrepreneurs in East Africa handle their own accounting, perform their own real-time market analyses, and maintain their personal safety.
Skills needed: entrepreneurship, small business development, workforce development, accounting, and mobile text systems.
Africa Agenda Challenge
Promoting a Holistic View of the African Continent
Develop a new website and content management platform that will engage a network of activists and journalists and collect articles that promote a more holistic view of African countries and the continent as a whole.
Skills needed: website development, graphic design, social media strategy, content management, news aggregation, journalism, and management.
Starfish Challenge
Creating Participant-Centered Program Monitoring and Evaluation
Build a system for collecting participant data via SMS and develop an online platform for educational resources and continued community building for program participants.
Skills needed: monitoring and evaluation, SMS surveying, database administration and development, and education.
