Aurora an International City - Brave Leader Walker Stapleton

August 28, 2015 Tammy Schaffer

Aurora Mayor Steve Hogan is focused on growing an international city.
Given Aurora's proximity to DIA, multi-cultural influence and ability to attract everyone from business travelers to sport tournaments, the Denver suburb continues to grow and make a mark in international circles.  With a population of nearly 360,000, Aurora classifies as a major city, whose makeup represents 140 countries and nearly as many languages.

Aurora continues to build infrastructure as a growing city but just as significantly, is building relationships here and abroad to great benefit to the community.

Executive Director of Aurora Sister Cities International,  Karlyn Shorb, explains that relationships between Aurora residents and their countries of origin help to promote good will which occasionally leads to business development.  Not long ago, the city's Ethiopian population influenced Aurora's newest Sister City relationship with Adama which resulted in attracting a major soccer tournament, and the tourism dollars associated with it.
