Colorado P-Tech Schools

November 25, 2016 Tammy Schaffer

An important innovation in high school and early college education has reached a small number of Colorado schools. Saint Vrain Valley Schools and Skyline High School are participating in P-Tech (Pathways in Technology Early College High School) along with Front Range Community College and IBM.

We will talk with Stan Litow, IBM Vice President of Corporate Citizenship and Corporate Affairs, about the P-Tech schools emerging in the Saint Vrain School District. P-Tech programs provide students with a six-year program to earn their high school diploma and complete an associate degree with the guidance of a mentor from an industry partner like IBM and several other companies participating in Colorado.

Saint Vrain and IBM launched the program this year, and hosted a launch event on October 21st. On that day, students in the P-Tech program met with their individual mentors from IBM for the first time. (See photo above.)

Learn more about the program in an article from the COBRT Newsletter or listen to this encore presentation today at 4:00 on Denver's Money Talk 1690.
